New Teeth in One Day
Our mouth, consisting of teeth, gums, soft tissue, lips, is such a small part of our anatomy. Yet is plays such a huge role in whom we are. Our smile is a very undervalued asset that is quite simply taken for granted. Imagine biting and chewing without teeth? Or a smile with numerous teeth missing? If you have an unfortunate accident and lose multiple teeth, or health conditions necessitates the removal of your teeth in one arch, there is a solution where you can have implant supported dentures in one day. We’ll briefly review conventional dentures, dental implants, the technology combining both methods and the introduction of digital technology to make this solution available in only one day.
The Convention Set of Dentures
This method of artificial teeth has been around for years. The process starts with a mold of the arch missing the teeth. The mold goes to a dental lab where a flesh colored tray is fabricated to sit snuggly on the gums. Artificial crowns are placed in the tray and just like that your dentures are completed. They are held in place with a dental adhesive and are removed every evening for proper cleaning.
The Dental Implant Technology
The absolute best replacement for a single tooth, the dentist surgically places a titanium post in the jawbone where the tooth is missing. Once the post has fused to the bone an extension, or abutment, brings the post to the surface. An artificial crown is permanently placed on the post and you have a perfect replacement.
The Implant Supported Denture
This technology brings the best of both worlds. The dentist will place possibly four or six titanium posts into your jawbone. The tray is still fabricated with the artificial teeth. The addition now are four or six nylon receivers on the back side of the tray. These receivers will snap right on to the post extensions giving you a very secure and stable set of artificial teeth.
The Technology to Bring this to You in Only One Day
By taking the dental lab out of the process everything can speed up. 3D digital technology is now available in some dental offices. This allows the dentist to first scan your arch for the tray fabrication to be done in-house. This technology also allows the dentist to scan the density of your jawbone so the titanium posts can be placed in the absolute most advantageous and stable positions. Since our mouths are as unique as our fingerprints, it may be necessary to place a temporary set of dentures in place to allow the posts to fuse. The dentist can still fabricate your permanent set of dentures in house.
The Benefits of Implant Supported Dentures
This solution delivers an almost natural sense of biting and chewing. It gives you peace of mind when it comes to speaking due to the security of placement. They also provide an extended life expectancy as well. You deserve a healthy smile. Consult with your dentist today to see if implant supported dentures are in your immediate future.
